09th April 2009: More lurking in Kinokuniya etc.

Whaddya readin', "Cocteau"?

Whaddya readin', "Cocteau"?

So I decided to pay another visit to Kinokuniya yesterday, and man I think I surely have missed a lot of new additions to the Japanese bookshelves. Or specifically, the ACG-related section.

One of the new stuff I recently saw there was a few copies of Dengeki Daioh, in which I paid very little attention to.

Anyway, moving on, I hoped to see a lot of interesting stuff but ultimately all of my effort only narrowed me down to Type-Moon related books. Excluding the already-present Fate, Tsukihime and Melty Blood manga, looks like Kara no Kyoukai is gaining some place within the shelves. Complete with covers that help you feel some relief in the midst of the “so serious”ness of the Kara no Kyoukai novels you know.

Kara no Kyoukai: Comic A La Carte

kara no kyoukai comic ala carteSpeaking about the novels I detected there’s also a manga of it, which quite sparks some interest. The title is also somewhat peculiar for me. A La Carte? I wonder what do they impy with such a title, hmm? Anyway, since I lack the financial ability to actually grab this one copy (yes, there’s only ONE in my local Kinokuniya’s shelves!)… I weep deep down in my heart for I get the feeling this is going to give me the laughter I needed out of this series – or shall I put it like this; the seriousness of the whole Nasuverse itself.

The cover is actually split into two parts, this is the front cover while the back cover features Kokutou Azaka and Asagami Fujino.

Since the number of volumes were not stated I suppose that this is a one-shot, probably it will be of a high value if I can manage to get this into my inventory.

Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners (Movie Anthology)

Looks like you can already “watch” the “6th movie” (sorry I didn’t bother to keep up with remembering the names of the movies) – on papers.

To be honest, I have no idea why the site I found this book names it as “Kara no Kyoukai Movie Anthology” when what I predict I’ll see is the Kara no Kyoukai novels – in manga version. But wait, probably I’m missing something – and yeah, after checking some information, the 6th movie just got out on last December, so I guess a manga of the movie at this point isn’t unlikely considering the time gap between the last movie and today. So I guess… finding this out only now shows how slow I am. Ahahaha.

Anyway, this also seems to be an attractive option not to miss.

Kara no Kyoukai (novels)

Well, this is not new anymore, it’s just that I found out volumes 1 to 3 were already available for purchase there; which in turn its availability lets me get a feel of the original authentic content of the novels which later on became the source to Type-Moon’s awesomeness that is Tsukihime and Fate, and also movies of its own. But still, as I came to Kinokuniya only to window-shop, I can’t help but not being able to buy them.

And I was quite stupid for looking for the novels under the Light Novels section. Okay that’s all, period.

And apart from the Kara no Kyoukai stuff I also stumbled upon a few Fate stuffs. What was found was two Fate mangas with a different look on them, which in turn makes me wonder what they might all be about. I think I did find a clue somewhere over the Internet, but well – these stuffs needs to be unwrapped for me to see what’s inside, right? Unfortunately I can’t afford them as well.

Fate/Stay Night: Comic A La Carte

This is one of the titles I really can’t find further information of, but I sense the Fate cast is… instead of going into the original seriousness of the other Fate manga I suppose they’re going to give us a barrage of lulz some comedy, which sounds to be something I’ll like. Anyway, since I suppose today is the day I found a lot of stuffs (save for the Kara no Kyoukai original novels since I am not quite interested in it) compared to my usual visits.

Oh, not to forget I did attempt going over to the Chinese section of Kinokuniya and spotted several titles I can’t properly recognize due to the fact that I can’t read Chinese (such an irony that I know a bit of Japanese, isn’t it?) so – well, I don’t want to say much about it.

Okay, here I am done with what I wanted to do today – was supposed to blog this yesterday but due to some constraints I only managed to blog them today. That’s all from now, I got some downloads to do and manga to finish reading. Laters and cheers! ;)
